Nuclear Energy Center

5th Year BArch, Professor Scott Duncan, Jorge Rovira, Jason Fisher, Fall 2025

Assuming that nuclear energy is going to be available for construction in the future, we can use 3D printed steel to create geometrically complex structures and nodes that have never been done before in a manufacturing plant. This results in a taller, more efficient tower using the same amount of steel. We are reimaging SOM’s iconic John Hancock Center as being powered by a nuclear micro-reactor.
